In Orders today, the Supreme Court declined to hear additional challenges to the health care law, including one from the DC Circuit that involved a religious liberty claim. Back in November, the DC Circuit affirmed (pdf) a lower court's dismissal of claims made under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, agreeing with that court's ruling that plaintiffs had failed to establish that the Affordable Care Act places a "substantial burden" on their religious exercise.

The Supreme Court's decision not to take up the case leaves that judgment intact. The religious liberty issue was not before the court in the case decided yesterday. Religion Clause gives a handy roundup of other claims of religious interest against the health care law. In addition to declining the DC Circuit case (Seven-Sky), the court also denied the Liberty University, Virginia, and Thomas More Law Center suits.
