brent walker “Religious Liberty and Church-State Separation: Oh, What a Touchy Subject!” was the theme of the 2013 Walter B. and Kay W. Shurden Lectures on Religious Liberty and Separation of Church and State, held April 9-10 on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.

The lectures were delivered by J. Brent Walker, executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee.

In 2004, Dr. Walter B. Shurden and Dr. Kay W. Shurden of Macon, Georgia, made a gift to the BJC to establish an annual lectureship on the issues of religious liberty and the separation of church and state. The 2014 Shurden Lectures will be held on the campus of Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
