Air Force Investigates Commander for Sending "Inspirational" Link to Subordinates |
|
Over the weekend, the NYTimes reported the Air Force is investigating an incident in which a commander sent an email to the thousands of personnel in her wing directing them to an "inspirational video" concerning the role of Christian faith in overcoming adversity.
Some Air Force personnel who watched the video said they believed that it breached the military's ban on endorsing particular religious views. Some viewers said they were even more bothered by articles and commentary on the Catholic Web site, 4marks.com.

"A commander shouldn't send out any type of e-mail that's perceived as endorsing a particular faith system," Sergeant Thompson, who is Catholic, said in a telephone interview. "It crossed a line, I thought. My faith stays in my home life and my church life." Colonel Kimberley Toney subsequently apologized that the site contained "inappropriate" material. In a side note confirmed in the report, the Obama Administration, as I posted earlier, is due to respond to an extensive church-state lawsuit against the Defense Department before the end of the month. |
