Will ADF's Efforts Be a Success?
AP reports that "dozens of ministers" Sunday preached about the importance of maintaining the separation of church and state, ahead of the Alliance Defense Fund's misguided "pulpit initiative". Meanwhile, at AU, Rob Boston predicts the event will be a bust.
For starters, the ADF appears to be running scared from allegations that its actions are ethically dubious. Three former Internal Revenue Service officials have sent a letter to the tax agency charging that the ADF’s actions run afoul of professional standards for tax attorneys...Looks like the bar for success might be moving for the pulpit initiative. Instead of generating a successful test case challenge to the IRS tax-exempt provisions, they might do well simply to avoid getting in trouble for pushing this idea to begin with.
