FL Committee Sends Constitutional Amendment to Ballot Box

Today Florida's Taxation and Budget Reform Commission voted to approve one of 2 constitutional amendment proposals that would weaken existing church-state safeguards. I linked yesterday to ao helpful description of the provisions being considered. The Palm Beach Post reports that one of them will go to a public vote after today's decision:

A constitutional amendment that would prevent the state from "barring" religious groups from receiving tax dollars was approved for the November ballot this afternoon by the state Taxation and Budget Reform Commission.

Opponents said the measure opened Florida to unintended consequences and offered a fix for a problem that has not occurred.
