Pastor Gets Testy Over IRS Inquiry
A Wichita, KS church is being questioned by the IRS for possible improper campaign activity, including posting messages on their sign like: "Canfield supports life and traditional family, Barnett does not." Apparently the pastor doesn't much like the rules that restrict campaign activity for non-profit organizations in exchange for tax-exempt status. In a press release he says:
The IRS has turned into a Gestapo, a speech police, who says if you're Christian, there are some things you can not say or preach.
...
The IRS is blatantly limiting the free exorcise (sic) of our sincerely held Christian and religious beliefs in the sanctity of life. Even those who disagree with our Christian beliefs should find this bully action by the IRS deplorable.
